Dehydrated Carrot Flakes, Powder & Cut Forms

Carrot is one of the few items in our lineup that goes through a blanching step before drying. A quick hot-water or steam treatment inactivates the enzymes responsible for browning and off-flavours in raw carrot once it’s cut — skip that step and a batch can lose colour and develop a flat, off taste during storage, even if the drying itself goes fine. It’s an extra step most of our other vegetable lines don’t need, and it’s the main reason carrot holds its bright orange colour as well as it does through a 12-month shelf life.

Six Forms, Six Different Jobs

Carrot is also the widest form range we offer for a single vegetable — powder, flakes, granules, chopped, minced and bits — because carrot shows up in more finished-product categories than most of what we dry. Powder is for smoothies, soups and baked goods where colour and thickening matter more than texture. Flakes (5x5mm standard, cut to order) go into instant noodles, soups and rice blends. Granules sit between flakes and powder in particle size, aimed at snack seasoning and soup mixes that need a finer piece than a flake. Chopped and minced are cut-size distinctions rather than drying distinctions, used in RTC/RTE meals and gravies where a recipe already calls for fresh chopped or minced carrot. Bits are a small, consistent piece size aimed at canned and tinned RTE foods.

Processing

After blanching, carrots are peeled and cut to the size the order calls for, then dried under controlled hot-air dehydration. Dried batches are sieved for particle consistency, metal-detected, and packed in PP bags followed by an outer carton box.

Where It’s Used

Beyond the general spice and rice blend trade, carrot’s colour and mild sweetness make it a common choice in baby health mixers and cake/bakery mixes — two applications that don’t show up on most of our other vegetable spec sheets. Condiment and processed-meat manufacturers use it for both colour and bulk.
