What particle size are Dehydrated Veg's chives flakes available in?
Our chives flakes are cut to 1-5mm as standard. We can also process to a custom mesh size on request, and if you need a coarser or finer cut, our minced (1-3 mm) or granule (0.2-1 mm) grades may suit better.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for chives flakes?
25 kg for a trial order, and 100 kg and above for bulk and export orders.
What is the shelf life of chives flakes, and how should it be stored?
Chives flakes carry a 12-month shelf life from date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dry place below 20°C, in a closed warehouse, away from humidity and dust, to retain the full shelf life.
How do dehydrated chives flakes compare to fresh chives in substitution ratio and flavour strength?
Dehydrated chives flakes rehydrate at approximately 1:4, and the hot-air drying process retains natural aromatic compounds, so they carry a concentrated version of fresh chives' mild onion-garlic flavour. We recommend requesting a free sample to test the exact substitution ratio and flavour intensity for your specific formulation.
How fast can you ship chives flakes samples and bulk orders?
Stock items typically ship the same day. Custom orders (specific mesh size, packaging or private label) usually take 2-3 working days.
Which industries use dehydrated chives flakes, and what are its common applications?
Chives flakes are used across soups, stews and casseroles, dry rubs and savoury snack seasoning, chives bread and bakery toppings, pickles and marinades, ready-to-eat (RTE) and HoReCa food preparations, and pet food formulations.
Do you provide quality certifications and a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for dehydrated chives flakes?
Yes, we provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and relevant quality documentation on request with each batch, covering parameters such as moisture, ash content and microbial testing. Share your specific certification requirement (FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, etc.) with our team before or during sampling.
What is the HS code for exporting dehydrated chives flakes?
Dehydrated/dried chives are commonly classified under HS Code 0712.90 (dried vegetables, other) within Chapter 7 of the Harmonized System. Please confirm the exact code with your customs broker, since classification can vary slightly by destination country and product form.
Are Dehydrated Veg's chives flakes safe for direct consumption?
Yes. Our chives flakes are food-grade, FSSAI-approved consumable ingredients, manufactured and packed under hygienic, quality-controlled conditions for direct use in food formulations.
Does Dehydrated Veg send free samples to customers?
Yes, we provide free samples of up to 50g per product, for a maximum of 5 products per request.

Dehydrated Chives Flakes
Chives flakes are the paler of the two chives grades we run — a creamish-white flake rather than the vivid green colour you’d expect from the fresh bulb. That’s a direct result of the faster hot-air cycle we run for this line, tuned for throughput and moisture consistency across large volumes rather than maximum colour retention. If a formulation specifically needs a deeper green shade, ask about our other chives grade before ordering.
Cut Size
Flakes are cut to 1-5mm, and that range alone covers most of the visible-piece applications a buyer needs — pickles and masalas tend toward the coarser end, while ready-to-eat mixes and instant food formulations tend to specify closer to the 1mm end. We don’t run a separate powder or granule line under this SKU; if your formulation needs a finer particle, we can process to a custom mesh size on request rather than routing you to a different product.
Where This Grade Gets Used
This particular chives grade shows up in a wider spread of industries than a typical vegetable flake — beyond the usual pickle, masala and instant-food buyers, it’s also specified into animal feed formulations and pharmaceutical applications, where the microbiological standard matters as much as the flavour. Every batch is tested against bacterial count, yeast and mould limits before it ships, which is worth flagging specifically for buyers in those two categories.
Processing
Fresh chives are inspected, washed and sliced to the 1-5mm cut before controlled hot-air drying. Dried flakes are sieved for particle consistency, metal-detected, and packed the same day to limit moisture reabsorption.
